The OECD is a valuable source concerning modern development in Education. It focus mainly on the bigger picture and the adaptation needs to be performed by educational institutions and practitioners.

On of the interesting aspects of the Learning Compass approach is, that in the understanding (definition) of competence now a fourth dimension is included: VALUES.

In the light of Education for the 21th century, challenged by disruption and constant change, the application of core foundations gains more attention. Education for learners of all ages shall consider the wider environment in which we are living and the active involvement in creating solutions for an improved environment is postulated. Four main fields of action are highlighted:

- Transformative competencies

- Taking responsibility

- Creating new values

- Reconciling tensions & dilemmas

The challenge is to adapt this big picture to individual training measures.
